0.2mm · ceramic HT resin

Thin enough to bond onto your tooth, not into it.

Traditional porcelain veneers are around 0.5 mm. To make room for them, your dentist drills down the front of your tooth — removing enamel that doesn't grow back. That's why prep veneers are permanent.

At 0.2 mm — about the thickness of two sheets of paper — there's nothing to make room for. We bond the veneer straight onto your natural tooth surface. No drilling. No anesthetic. No temporaries to wear for two weeks while a lab makes the final.

  • No tooth reduction. Your enamel stays intact. If you change your mind in five years, your tooth is still there.
  • No anesthetic for placement. Nothing is being cut. The bonding process is comfortable from start to finish.
  • Reversible by us. Unprepped veneers can be debonded without damaging the underlying tooth.
  • Future options stay open. Traditional prep veneers, crowns, or orthodontics later are all still on the table.

Traditional veneers vs. no-prep veneers

Same goal — a better-looking smile. Different mechanics. Toggle below.

What you get

Traditional porcelain veneers

The industry standard for decades. Lab-fabricated porcelain shells, ~0.5mm thick, bonded onto a prepared tooth.

  • Enamel reduction required. 0.3–0.7mm of front-tooth enamel is drilled away.
  • Anesthetic needed. Drilling means shots and numbness for the prep visit.
  • Temporaries for 2–3 weeks. While an outside lab fabricates the final.
  • Permanent. The reduction is irreversible — if a veneer fails, you'll need another one or a crown.
  • +
Best for severe cases. Heavy discoloration, prominent teeth, or large shape changes.
What you get

No-prep 3D-printed veneers

3D-printed in-house on our Midas printer using ceramic HT (high-translucency) resin, at 0.2mm thickness.

  • +
Zero enamel reduction. At 0.2mm there's nothing to make room for — they bond straight onto the natural tooth.
  • +
No shots, no numbness. Nothing is drilled, so there's nothing to numb.
  • +
Same-day or next-day delivery. Designed digitally, printed in-house, no lab to wait on.
  • +
Fully reversible. Can be debonded by us without damaging your tooth.
  • Not for every case. Severe rotations, heavy discoloration, or significant crowding may still need orthodontics or prep veneers.

What no other DMV practice has stacked together.

Most "no-prep" pages stop at marketing copy. Here's the actual stack — every step happens in our Chevy Chase office, end to end.

Hardware · 01

Midas 3D printer

A precision dental printer engineered for ceramic-loaded resins. Layer-by-layer fabrication at 0.2mm wall thickness — accuracy that traditional milling can't match for ultra-thin restorations.

Material · 02

Ceramic HT resin

High-translucency ceramic-filled resin engineered to mimic the optical depth of natural enamel. Light passes through it the way it does through a real tooth — no flat, opaque "Chiclet" look.

Workflow · 03

Digital intraoral scan

A wand-sized scanner captures your teeth in seconds. No goopy putty trays. The 3D scan goes straight into our CAD software for smile design.

Preview · 04

Digital smile design

You see the proposed smile rendered on your own face — shape, length, proportion, edge detail — before anything is printed. Approve, request changes, then commit.

Three steps. No temporaries. No outside lab.

From the first scan to bonded veneers, every step happens at our Chevy Chase office.

Why a 6-veneer minimum?

Veneers exist to redesign your smile, not patch one tooth. Six is the minimum for the front teeth that actually show when you smile naturally — anything less leaves visible asymmetry between the new and old.

  • 6 veneers · upper centrals, laterals, and canines. The minimum for a coherent smile design.
  • 8 veneers · adds first premolars. Right for most smile widths — where 6 stops, the natural teeth still show.
  • 10 veneers · adds second premolars. For wider smiles where teeth show further back.

Who no-prep works for — and who it doesn't.

No-prep veneers are an additive technique. They add porcelain on top — they can't remove tooth material or move teeth. We tell you up-front whether your case fits. If it doesn't, we'll route you to traditional prep veneers, orthodontics, or a different cosmetic plan.

Good fit

You're likely a candidate if

  • Your teeth have minor spacing or small gaps between them.
  • Your teeth show mild discoloration that's still in the natural shade range.
  • Your front teeth have worn or chipped edges from age or grinding.
  • You have peg laterals or otherwise small teeth that need building up.
  • You want to widen a narrow smile or fill out the buccal corridor.
  • You want the option to reverse the decision down the road.
Better routes

No-prep may not be right if

  • You have severe crowding or rotations — orthodontics first.
  • Heavy bite or grinding issues that need a guard plan first.
  • Severe discoloration (tetracycline staining, dead nerve) — translucent veneers won't mask it.
  • Your teeth are already prominent — adding bulk would push them further forward.
  • You need significant tooth movement — veneers don't move teeth.
  • Active gum disease or untreated decay — those come first.

Dr. Jay — digital cosmetics, in-house.

Dr. Jay built Radiant Dental around the digital workflow that most cosmetic practices still outsource — intraoral scanning, CAD smile design, in-house 3D printing — so what used to take an outside lab and three weeks now happens in one office, on one visit when the case allows.

  • DDS · evaluates every veneer case personally — no associates, no rotating doctors
  • Operates the Midas printer in-house for ceramic HT veneers and same-day crowns
  • Digital smile design previewed on every case before you commit

Frequently asked.

Don't see yours? Call (301) 652-2222 or ask at consult.

Are these the same as traditional veneers?
No. Traditional porcelain veneers are about 0.5mm thick and require us to grind down your enamel before bonding. Ours are 0.2mm thick — about the thickness of two sheets of paper — and bond directly onto your existing tooth. No drilling, no shots, fully reversible.
How long do they last?
Typically 5–7 years, longer with good care. The bond is the weak point — once it starts to fail, the veneer needs replacement. A nightguard if you grind, plus regular cleanings, extends their life.
Will my teeth be drilled?
No. At 0.2mm there's no need to remove enamel to make room for them. We bond them straight onto your natural teeth. Some edge polishing may happen for fit, but no structural reduction.
Can they be removed?
Yes. Because we don't remove enamel, the veneers can be debonded by us without damaging the tooth underneath. It's not a common request — almost no one removes their veneers voluntarily — but the option exists. This is the point of going no-prep: future you keeps options.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Cherry financing is available for monthly payment plans, with options for most credit profiles. We'll walk through it at consult.
Does insurance cover veneers?
No. Veneers are cosmetic — dental insurance plans don't cover them. We'll give you a complete written treatment plan with full pricing before you commit. No surprise add-ons.
Why $800 when I see ads for $399?
Three reasons. First, sub-$400 veneers are usually loss leaders that require traditional prep — meaning enamel reduction, anesthesia, and an outside lab. Second, they often use a single shade with no smile design — proportion, edge detail, and shape integrity get lost. Third, our $800 includes the 3D-printed ceramic HT veneer, in-house digital design, smile preview, and bonding. Everything is in the number.
Will my teeth look bigger?
Slightly — we're adding 0.2mm without removing any. For most patients this is a positive (small or recessed teeth become proportional). If your teeth are already full-sized or prominent, traditional prep is a better fit.
Same-day or near-same-day — which one is mine?
Most cases are same-day or next-day. Larger cases (10 veneers with detailed shade-mapping) may take 2–3 days for printing and finishing. Either way, you skip the 2–3 week outside-lab wait.
